Published in IEEE Access magazine, the article "Benchmarking Consistency Levels of Cloud-Distributed NoSQL Databases Using YCSB" by PPGIA graduate Saulo Ferreira (UFRPE), Júlio Mendonça (University of Luxembourg), Bruno Nogueira (UFAL), Willy Tiengo (UFAL) and PPGIA professor Ermeson Andrade (UFRPE), analyzes the impact of different levels of data consistency on the performance of NoSQL databases in cloud environments with multiple regions. Using the YCSB tool, the study shows that configurations with strong consistency can drastically reduce performance, with drops of up to 95% in Cassandra and times up to 20 times longer in Redis. The results provide relevant insights for those seeking to balance consistency and performance in distributed systems.
