
PPGIA is pleased to welcome Profa. Patrícia A. Jaques Maillard as a visiting researcher, for a period of two years, within the scope of the PRAPG/CAPES program.
Patrícia is a prominent researcher in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and Affective Computing applied to Education, and is dedicated to developing more effective intelligent learning environments, focusing on the integration between students' cognitive and emotional aspects. Her research investigates methods for detecting students' affective states in smart educational environments and how these systems can respond appropriately to enhance both student learning and well-being.
Her academic excellence is internationally recognized, being a member of the Editorial Board of the Springer Journal on Multimodal User Interfaces and having served as Associate Editor of the prestigious IEEE Transactions on Learning Technologies (TLT). Her contributions to the field include participation in program committees of renowned international conferences on Artificial Intelligence and Computers in Education, such as ITS and ACII. The professor also coordinated important international cooperation projects involving Brazil, France and Argentina.
In her academic career, Patrícia has trained generations of researchers, guiding dozens of undergraduate, master's and doctoral students in their research work. Currently, she is the coordinator of the Special Commission for Informatics in Education (CEIE) of the Brazilian Computing Society, reaffirming her commitment to the advancement of the area in the country.
